NAD+

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in all living cells that is essential in key physiological processes in our bodies. As we get older, however, NAD+ production slows down, leading to mental and physical fatigue. One of the ways to supplement declining NAD+ is through NAD+ Therapy. Methylcobalamin, or vitamin B12

B12 is a B-vitamin. It is found in a variety of foods such as fish, shellfish, meats, and dairy products. Although methylcobalamin and vitamin B12 are terms used interchangeably, vitamin B12 is also available as hydroxocobalamin, a less commonly prescribed drug product, and methylcobalamin. Methylcobalamin is used to treat pernicious anemia and vitamin B12 deficiency, as well as to determine vitamin B12 absorption in the Schilling test. Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin found in foods such as meat, eggs, and dairy products. Deficiency in healthy individuals is rare; the elderly, strict vegetarians (i.e., vegan), and patients with malabsorption problems are more likely to become deficient. If vitamin B12 deficiency is not treated with a vitamin B12 supplement, then anemia, intestinal problems, and irreversible nerve damage may occur.

The most chemically complex of all the vitamins, methylcobalamin is a water-soluble, organometallic compound with a trivalent cobalt ion bound inside a corrin ring which, although similar to the porphyrin ring found in heme, chlorophyll, and cytochrome, has two of the pyrrole rings directly bonded. The central metal ion is Co (cobalt). Methylcobalamin cannot be made by plants or by animals; the only type of organisms that have the enzymes required for the synthesis of methylcobalamin are bacteria and archaea. Higher plants do not concentrate methylcobalamin from the soil, making them a poor source of the substance as compared with animal tissues.

Vitamin B12, or methylcobalamin, is essential to growth, cell reproduction, hematopoiesis, and nucleoprotein and myelin synthesis. Cells characterized by rapid division (epithelial cells, bone marrow, myeloid cells) appear to have the greatest requirement for methylcobalamin. Vitamin B12 can be converted to coenzyme B12 in tissues; in this form it is essential for conversion of methylmalonate to succinate and synthesis of methionine from homocysteine (a reaction which also requires folate). In the absence of coenzyme B12, tetrahydrofolate cannot be regenerated from its inactive storage form, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, resulting in functional folate deficiency. Vitamin B12 also may be involved in maintaining sulfhydryl (SH) groups in the reduced form required by many SH-activated enzyme systems. Through these reactions, vitamin B12 is associated with fat and carbohydrate metabolism and protein synthesis. Vitamin B12 deficiency results in megaloblastic anemia, GI lesions, and neurologic damage (which begins with an inability to produce myelin and is followed by gradual degeneration of the axon and nerve head). Vitamin B12 requires an intrinsic factor-mediated active transport for absorption, therefore, lack of or inhibition of intrinsic factor results in pernicious anemia.

Methylcobalamin B12 Shot

How is ours different from the doctors or weight loss clinics? It comes down to dose size and molecules. Cyanocobalamin is the traditional choice of both places. It is synthetic so it is cheap, stable, and easy to store. Methylcobalamin is naturally occurring, does not shelf well and is quite expensive. We also use a 5mg dose, versus most places using 1mg doses. Cyanocobalamin is made with cyanide molecules to create its stability. The body has to strip the stable cyanide, then put the cobalamin (b12) through the folate wheel to use it. This process causes a lot (80% or more) to not be absorbed by the body. Injecting cyanocobalamin is no more effective than swallowing it. Methylcobalamin is natural, and bioavailable immediately. Achieving as high as 96% absorption rates. As a result, visits to us are far less frequent.

Most people look to B12 injections for energy or metabolic reasons. But B12 affects so much more than just the energy or ability to lose weight. What most people do not know is that B12 helps with Red Blood cell formation and Anemia prevention. It can prevent major birth defects in future babies. It helps bone health and has a hand in preventing Osteoporosis. It can reduce the risk of Macular Degeneration (blurry vision as we get older). It improves mood and has direct effects on depression. It prevents the loss of neurons in the brain. It improves heart health by lowering the level of the amino acid Homocysteine in the body that is linked to heart disease. Lastly, it even plays into the skin, hair and nail health.

How long will it take to feel it?

This is a loaded question. The reason it is difficult to answer is that we are not pulling a blood panel to determine deficiency levels. If VERY deficient one may feel tired after the first round and could potentially develop acne. The tired feeling comes from jump starting a lot of the above listed systems and the body feeling exhausted running them. The acne is proof the immune system is fired back up and is fighting infection below the skin. It is also proof there may not be adequate water intake =) Do not overmedicate the skin. Give the immune system some water and time to kill the bacteria. It is not pleasant, but it is normal. If only slightly deficient it may be the same day or in the soon to be days after. If nothing is felt immediately, this is also common. We recommend doing at least 3 rounds of shots to give the body time to recognize that it is going to be supplied regularly. A good judge of these shots working is lowered irritability, mental clarity, better sleep and circulation efficiency. Everyone likens feeling “energy” to a caffeine buzz. That is not what general energy feels like. We are not releasing adrenaline into the blood the way caffeine does. It will not feel like that, so do not expect it.

Most people pair the Methylcobalamin B12 with the Lipo shot because they work well together. This does not mean they are ineffective alone.

Performance

ISOLEUCINE

Isoleucine is one of the three branched chain amino acids alongside both leucine and valine. Relative to the other two BCAAs, isoleucine is intermediate for its ability to induce muscle protein synthesis (stronger than valine, but much weaker than leucine) but is able to significantly increase glucose uptake and the usage of glucose during exercise. Isoleucine does not promote glycogen synthesis, however.Isoleucine can increase glucose uptake into a muscle cell. Isoleucine can be seen as the BCAA which mediates glucose uptake (into a cell) and breakdown (into energy) to a larger degree than other amino acids and may serve a role as a hypoglycemic (in diabetics) or as a performance enhancer.

LEUCINE

Leucine is one of the 3 essential branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). These amino acids can be used by skeletal muscle to give energy during exercise. Eating foods that have complete protein gives enough of these amino acids. This includes foods such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and milk. Results of studies have shown these amino acids improve exercise performance, can help build muscle mass, and help you recover from exercise. Leucine can help in healing skin and bones. It can increase muscle growth and lean body mass. It can increase production of human growth hormone (HGH). It can help control blood sugar.VALINE – L-valine is one of the essential amino acids. Essential amino acids are those amino acids that cannot be synthesized by the body and must be obtained through dietary sources. L-valine is also what is called a branch chain amino acid (BCAA). It works along with two additional BCAAs known as Leucine and Isoleucine.L-valine and the other BCAAs are crucial for muscle protein synthesis and muscle tissue repair. For these reasons, L-valine has become an important supplement for people who are engaged in certain types of high-intensity training.The metabolism that goes on specifically in muscles requires the presence of L-valine. Some athletes focus on the other BCAAs for their workout supplements, but many people have come to see L-valine is of particular importance.L-valine helps build muscle by bringing more glucose to the muscles as they are stressed and worked. By increasing nitric oxide in the body, arginine provides better oxygenation to muscles and enhances exercise performance. Research has shown a variety of potential benefits like treating and preventing preeclampsia (a dangerous condition characterized by high blood pressure and protein in the urine), erectile dysfunction, heart disease, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and improving glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. A study in 144 people with impaired blood sugar regulation found that treatment with arginine for 18 months reduced the chances of diabetes development over a 90-month period.

Calm

GAMMA AMINOBUTYRIC ACID

It slows down your brain by blocking specific signals in your central nervous system (your brain and spinal cord). GABA is known for producing a calming effect. It’s thought to play a major role in controlling nerve cell hyperactivity associated with anxiety, stress and fear.

MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE

Your heart, kidneys and other organs, as well as your muscles, all rely on magnesium for their normal day-to-day function. It plays an essential role in a wide variety of chemical reactions, helps regulate your blood pressure and blood glucose levels, and also helps your body regulate its levels of other vital nutrients such as vitamin D, calcium, potassium, zinc and copper. CHOLINE

Choline supports several vital bodily functions and may offer a wide range of other health benefits, such as: Improving memory and cognition. Choline is an essential nutrient for brain development. In one observational study of 2,195 participants aged 70–74 years, those with higher choline levels had better cognitive functioning than participants with low choline levels.Another observational study from 2019 found that inadequate levels of choline, vitamin C, and zinc were associated with poorer working memory in older men. It also protects heart health. The authors of a 2018 study found an association between higher dietary intakes of choline and a lower risk of ischemic stroke. The study looked at nearly 4,000 African American participants, with an average 9 year follow-up period. It boosts metabolism. Some research has shown that choline plays a role in metabolizing fats.The authors of a small 2014 study found that female athletes who took choline supplements had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) and leptin levels than the control group. Leptin is a hormone that controls body fat. It can reduce the risk of pregnancy complications. Choline can affect fetal development and may influence pregnancy outcomes. In one 2013 study, for example, women in their third trimester of pregnancy received either 480 milligrams (mg) or 930 mg of choline per day. Those who took higher doses had reduced markers of preeclampsia. Symptoms of preeclampsia include high blood pressure, swelling, and severe headaches. It has been shown to improve cystic fibrosis symptoms. One 2018 study found that choline supplementation improved lung function and reduced symptoms of fatty liver disease in 10 adult males with cystic fibrosis.

Plays an important role in breaking down nutrients in food, including carbohydrates, proteins, and fats to produce energy. Without it, we simply could not function. It can also help prevent or treat migraines, certain cancers, cataracts, preeclampsia, seizures, and Dementia, it reduces likelihood for migraines, helps properly develop skin lining of the digestive tract, blood cells and promotes brain function, helps reduce homocysteine levels in the blood, can help reduce acne, muscle cramps, inflammation of nerves. There is also evidence that vitamin B2 is helpful in preventing cancer. The underlying theory is that riboflavin can protect cellular DNA from being damaged by cancer-causing agents like cigarette smoke. Cataracts are a common aging-related condition in which the lens of the eye begins to cloud over. People who have riboflavin in their body appear to have a lower risk of developing cataracts. In addition to its role in metabolism and blood cell synthesis, vitamin B2 enables the conversion of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) to its active coenzyme form and the conversion of tryptophan to niacin.

A derivative of pantothenic acid called pantethine is being studied to see if it may help lower cholesterol levels in the body. It helps with high cholesterol, skin care and wound repair, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Vitamin B6 is known as a “helper molecule” that affects several biochemical processes. B6 metabolizes nutrients and also synthesizes hemoglobin (which carries oxygen through the blood), antibodies (which supports the immune system), and neurotransmitters (which send nerve signals). A deficiency in vitamin B6 affects the body’s ability to process fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, as important circulatory, immune, and nervous system functions begin to break down. Vitamin B6 is often used to help treat a number of conditions including… Age-related macular degeneration, Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), Cancer, Hyperemesis gravidarum (“morning sickness”), Kidney stones, Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) Pyridoxine-dependent seizures in infants, Sideroblastic anemia (a form of hereditary anemia) Stroke, Tardive dyskinesia (a neurologic side effect of antipsychotic drugs).

Lipotropic, or MIC

Lipotropic or lipo injections are a mixture of compounds that may aid in the reduction of adipose tissue (fat). The mixture of compounds individually may be effective, however in combination they may exhibit more lipotropic activity than when administered alone in a synergistic fashion. Injection of this mixture of lipotropic compounds may be more effective than oral supplementation, this is due to the increased bioavailability of parenteral exposure.

These lipotropic agents are structurally and functionally closely related to the B-vitamins, or are involved in the homeostasis of energy production from fat. These compounds are often employed together in the hope of potentiating fat-loss, thus while the MIC mixture and B vitamin(s) are often injected separately, they are part of the same overall injection cycle. The non-vitamin compounds (MIC) that are injected into the body stimulate the liver into optimizing the process of metabolism, elevate the movement of and utilization of fat, and provide the needed metabolic environment of the body for a fatty acid (fat) mobilization and utilization.

Typically, these compounds are administered in concert. Lipotropic compounds are used to increase the potential for release of fat deposits in some parts of the body. The lipotropic agents included in this injection are:

Methionine:

Methionine helps the liver maintain the optimal ability to process fatty acids.1 Methionine is a major constituent of S-adenosylmethionine which has been shown to be associated in genetic regulation and activation of certain genes.2 Methionine contributes to methyl donation to histones that activate certain genetic processes that may be involved in the increase in lean tissue. Although indirectly linked to lipolysis, it is believed that the increase in lean tissue increases resting metabolic rate, therefore increasing the overall required calories that must be obtained from storage or dietary intake. Methionine, via S-adenosylmethionine, has been shown in animal models to increase CNS activity, therefore increasing the caloric requirements required by the CNS3 The downstream effects of this may ultimately lead to increased caloric requirements for the entire organism. Although studies have not been replicated.4 in humans, there may be an association due to the similarity in pathways shared between organisms.

Inositol:

Inositol is a sugar-like molecule, referred to as a sugar alcohol. Even though very similar in molecular structure to glucose, this molecule does not exhibit the traits that simple carbohydrates exhibit. Contrary to simple carbohydrates, this sugar alcohol has been shown to not actively increase adipose storage. In fact, Inositol has been found to decrease fatty acid synthase activity, a multi-enzyme protein that catalyzes fatty acid synthesis. This set of enzymes ultimately enables the body to produce triglycerides fat molecules that reside in adipose tissue (body fat).

Inositol may be effective in reducing insulin resistance, a common condition associated with increased adiposity (body fat). Insulin resistance, a condition to which your body becomes resistant to the activities of the hormone insulin. This condition leads to excess blood glucose levels and a host of symptoms and dysfunctions. A chemical called Inositol phosphoglycan is known to regulate the body’s sensitivity to insulin signaling. Inositol phosphoglycan structurally incorporates Inositol, thus inositol is required for this molecule to exert its regulating behavior.

The proper functioning and sensitivity to insulin is found in most healthy individuals, and is essential in maintaining overall health. Excessive exposure to blood glucose ultimately leads to insulin resistance and poor nutrient transport. Inositol may be effective in reducing this condition while at the same time reducing fatty acid (fat) synthesis.

Choline:

Choline is a simple molecule usually classified as a B vitamin. The B vitamin class is usually involved in the generation of energy and support of metabolism. Choline is an important precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This neurotransmitter is involved in a host of activities, one of which includes muscular function and contraction. Acetylcholine is a fundamental neurotransmitter that enables the communication between neurons. Increased neural communication results in increased CNS activity which ultimately leads to increased energy expenditure. Energy expenditure requires nutrient input, either from stored energy (fat), or dietary nutrients. Choline exists in a delicate balance and homeostasis with methionine and folate. When these nutrients are not in balance adverse health effects may be present. Along with the increase in CNS activity comes increased cognitive ability, reported by many users. Choline may be effective as a nootropic, or a substance with the ability to increase cognition. Increased neural cognition is thought to be due to choline’s role as a precursor to acetylcholine.

The supplementation of choline has been shown to reduce serum and urinary carnitine. The reduction of carnitine in these fluids may indicate carnitine has been partitioned in tissues that utilize it as a fatty acid mitochondrial transport. When carnitine is used in the mitochondria it transports fatty acids to the location where they are broken down and used as energy. It has also been reported that molecular fragments of fat have been found in urine after carnitine and choline supplementation, which may be due to incomplete fatty acid oxidation and the removal of the subsequent byproducts. This means, choline supplementation may increase the utilization of carnitine and increase the removal of fatty acids, even though all fatty acids are not burned as energy. The fragments of fatty acids not burned as energy are extruded in the urine as molecular fragments.

Most places combine their B12 with their Lipo compound and try to market it as a “Skinny” shot. Mostly because weight loss is a massive business and seeing that something can help people lose weight can even be an emotional trigger. While this is true, it is not promised. For the most part they also only have access to low volume and low doses. We have seen people report 40 lb weight loss combining these shots with better food choices, but our job here is to set proper expectations. The B6 helps convert food to energy and it also helps with red blood cell production. Methionine works to prevent fat accumulation in the liver and keeps the metabolism high. It also helps breakdown sugar and other carbs in the body, converting them to energy. Inositol regulates levels of insulin and serotonin in the body. So, this part plays heavily into stabilizing the mood and managing the appetite. Choline actively detoxes the body, getting rid of harmful chemicals while removing fat and bile from the liver. Carnitine is a protein building block; it helps metabolize body fat into fuel. B1 is an immune system booster that uses fats and carbs to fuel the process. How long will it take to feel it?

The Lipo shot is another that does not have a “feel” associated with it. The quickest way to gauge if this shot is taking hold is if people begin sleeping deeper, notice the body forcing people to the bathroom more often to remove waste, noticing less sugar cravings and then overall appetite suppression. This injection can be done bi-weekly with no issues.

Most people pair the Methylcobalamin B12 with the Lipo shot because they work well together. This does not mean they are ineffective alone.

Citrulline is made in the liver and intestine. Its function is to detoxify ammonia and help dilate the blood vessels. A 2010 randomized double-blind study (the gold standard of research studies) involving 41 men, discovered that a single dose of citrulline malate (CM) resulted in a significant increase in the number of barbell bench presses (accounting for 52.92% more repetitions) and a 40% decrease in muscle soreness after exercise. Citrulline is a precursor to arginine. **Which shots are right for me? **

All our injections have little to literally no opportunity for toxicity, so fear of overdose should not be a concern. In terms of what is right for an individual’s body, this is why we provide so much information about the offerings. We are not doing any diagnosing, nor are we attempting to “treat” any symptoms. These are meant to be used as a supplemental to support the bodies need for vital nutrients. Humans do not consume enough of the right foods to get everything needed to support every internal system, as a result sometimes it needs help. Some injections work great in pairs or in groups, for example, the B12 shot and the Lipo shot are commonly combined because they work amazing together. Some people choose to do the B12, Lipo and Immuo because it covers literally every piece needed for strong immune systems. The breakdowns of the compounds should help people determine which systems they feel are most likely to need help. In the end, everybody’s body… is different. We are here to answer any questions there may be!

How often should I come?

We offer them bi-weekly. Everyone is welcome to do them every two weeks, but every four is enough or some people. Being they are vitamins and amino acids there is no way to overdose on them and everyone’s needs are different!

Post-Injection Education:

Are there side effects? If people spend enough time on WebMD anything can turn into something terminal. We give just over 4000 injections a month. The most common feeling post injection is potentially feeling flush or having a “bubble gut” situation if anything at all. Everything in these injections is naturally occurring and is something derived from food, just not enough of it. If anything feels out of the ordinary post injection, please message the business page so we can walk through it together. We are not here to collect money and hope all goes OK; our goal is to make everyone feel better!

Possible Injection Site Irritants:

It is common for the area post injection to be sore. It is also common for there to be a harder lump that can be tender to the touch as an injection is causing trauma to the area treated and we are leaving a full ml of compound in the muscle. Using warm and cold compresses can help mitigate the soreness. This soreness can sometime persist for a few weeks. It happens EXTREMELY rarely but is not unusual.

On occasion there can be bruising, sometimes large bruising. When a needle passes through the skin on the way to the muscle it is possible to nick smaller blood vessels, capillaries, or other blood conduits. The bruising is the blood spreading out in the skin. It is not an indication of any severe injury 99.9% of the time. We do ask that if there is any bruising make us aware of it so we can stay informed.

Post Injection instructions:

PLEASE massage the area of the injection every few minutes for 15 minutes after the shots. This helps spread out the compounds and reduces the chances for a sore injection site or any sort of knot in the muscle.
